Each fret is fitted to the fingerboard and glued in place so that in the future when the frets are worn out, they can easily be replaced without chipping the fingerboard. Special means it has our patented Goodtime Special Tone Ring - The Goodtime Special Openback banjo produces a more powerful and brighter tone because it is made with our patented steel tone ring. This is the lowest priced Deering banjo made with a tone ring. The openback style makes it suitable for clawhammer or frailing styles of playing, while the increased brightness and volume is a wonderful surprise to players who play in the more traditional bluegrass style of play.

A resonator back provides more projection of sound in the Goodtime Two. We make it here in the USA, at the Deering shop with the same tooling we use to make the top of the line banjos.
